Prof. Dr. Tobias Gulder
Über
Tobias A. M. Gulder studierte Chemie an der Universität Würzburg (Diplom 2004, Promotion 2008). Nach einem Postdoc-Aufenthalt an der Scripps Institution of Oceanography bei Bradley Moore (2008-2010) begann er seine unabhängige Arbeit als Liebig- und Emmy-Noether-Stipendiat an der Universität Bonn (2011-2014, Mentor Jörn Piel). Im Jahr 2014 nahm er den Ruf an die Technische Universität München als Professor für Biosystemchemie am Department für Chemie und am Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich (CIPSM) an. Im Jahr 2019 übernahm er den Lehrstuhl für Technische Biochemie an der Technischen Universität Dresden. Seit 2024 ist er Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Naturstoff-Biotechnologie an der Universität des Saarlandes und Leiter der gleichnamigen Abteilung am Helmholtz-Institut für Pharmazeutische Wissenschaften. Seine Arbeitsgruppe beschäftigt sich mit der Struktur, Biosynthese und Synthese von bakteriellen Naturstoffen. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Aufklärung neuer biosynthetischer Transformationen und deren Anwendung auf die biokatalytische Synthese von Naturstoffen sowie die Manipulation von Biosynthesewegen zur Erzeugung neuer Molekülstrukturen. Erst ist seit 2017 Mitglied und seit 2019 Vorsitzender des Editorial Boards des Journals Natural Product Reports (RSC).
