Carene Benasolo

About

Carene has an international academic background that began at the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene in Algiers, where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology and Health in 2016. In 2018, she obtained a Master's degree in in silico Drug Design from the University of Paris Cité. Carene then pursued a research career with Prof. Dr. Jan-Philipp Machtens in the Computational Neurophysiology group at Forschungszentrum Jülich, where she completed her PhD in 2024. Her research focused on human voltage-gated sodium channels, combining molecular modeling and machine learning methods. Afterward, she joined the Drugs Bioinformatics group for her first postdoctoral position. She will be working on the DrugSiderAI project to model the functional effects of combinations of mutations.
