Lukas Hiller
About
Lukas Hiller studied chemistry at the Humboldt-University of Berlin and obtained his master’s degree in April of 2024. His master’s thesis focused on the expression and characterization of recombinant anti-tetanus-antibodies with different glycosylation patterns at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) under the supervision of Dr. Michael Weller. He is now working at the HIPS in the group of Prof. Dr. Anna Hirsch, which deals with the topic of Drug Design and Optimization.
Lukas’ PhD project focuses on the research of active compounds targeting the virulence factor LasB of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition to the identification of novel inhibitors of LasB, the mechanistic elucidation of the pathogenicity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa plays an equally important role. To achieve this, assays are to be developed that shed light on different aspects of an infection. The combination of these topics could lead to a better understanding of this bacterium as well as its behavior and thus result in a better treatment strategy in the future.
