Martin Gepperth

About

Martin Gepperth studied pharmacy at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and graduated with a license to practice pharmacy in July 2024. During his studies, he worked as a student assistant and tutor in the fields of medicinal chemistry and instrumental analytics.

During his practical year, Martin worked at Boehringer Ingelheim in Biberach an der Riß and was involved in preclinical formulation development in the Drug Discovery Sciences department. He then worked as a pharmacy intern at the Marien-Apotheke pharmacy in Munich, where he was directly confronted with the problem of antibiotic resistance for the first time in his practical work.

Since November 2024, Martin has been working as a doctoral student in the Microbial Natural Products group of Prof. Rolf Müller at HIPS and is working on the identification and characterization of new antimicrobial active natural products from myxobacteria. One focus of his work is the cultivation of myxobacteria under different conditions in bioreactors in order to stimulate the production of previously unknown secondary metabolites.
