About
Qingyuan (Chingyuen) Liu received a dual Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2017 and a Master's degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 2019. Prior to joining HIPS in July 2023, he worked at the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTIC) from 2020 to 2021, focusing on protein complex structure prediction. His research is situated at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biology, where he develops protein generative models to design novel protein sequences and applies explainable AI (XAI) techniques to Drug-Target Interaction (DTI) models. These efforts aim to identify critical protein residues, enabling scientists to better understand protein targets and design innovative protein sequences for therapeutic and biotechnological applications.
