Shan completed her Master's degree in Microbial and Biochemical Pharmacy at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2024. Her master's research focused on developing a genetic manipulation system for Sorangium cellulosum. In March 2025, she joined the research group of Prof. Christine Beemelmanns at HIPS. Her research aims to discover secondary metabolites with antimicrobial properties, utilizing genome mining and heterologous expression techniques.
