About
Shen Tang studied at Jiangxi Agricultural University, Nanchang, China, and the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao, China, from 2017-2020. At that time, he focused on the genomic mining of the silent secondary metabolite biosynthesis gene clusters in Aspergillus terreus and obtained his master degree. After that, he continued to work at the institute for half a year. Since March 2021, He received a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council and started his PhD in Prof. Tobias Gulder’s group (Technical Biochemistry) at the Technical University of Dresden.
He works on identifying biosynthetic pathways for natural products and characterizing the key enzymes involved in fungi. So far, he has elucidated the biosynthetic pathways of 3 different kinds of compounds.
