Simon Cremers

About

Simon Cremers completed his pharmacy degree at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel in mid-2022. During his studies, he worked as an assistant scientist in various areas of medicinal chemistry. After working in a public pharmacy, he worked at the Bayer Research and Development Centre in Wuppertal-Aprath on the development, implementation and optimisation of various biochemical and cell-based/phenotypic assays, in particular for industrial high-throughput screening.
He received his licence to practise as a pharmacist at the end of 2023.

Since January 2024, he has been working on his doctorate in the Microbial Natural Products research group with Prof. Rolf Müller at HIPS. Simon's aim is to use various cultivation techniques to stimulate the production of previously unknown natural products by myxobacteria, isolate them and characterise them chemically and biologically. Their structures are then to be elucidated using various methods of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS).
